Disney Aeon

Aeon is Japan's largest shopping mall developer and operator and the largest retailer in Asia. The Walt Disney Company is the world's largest media conglomerate by revenue. These two giants collaborated to develop a joint brand for products that offer a healthy, fun lifestyle to families with kids. Obviously, Disney's family-friendly values and strong stable of cartoon characters were a key part of the new brand's identity.

Bravis was in charge of developing a coherent package design system for the Disney Aeon brand. The packaging had to fulfill the following four criteria: (1) to reflect the worldview of Disney's characters; (2) to display nutritional/educational data with maximum clarity; (3) to appeal equally to both children and parents; and (4) to be adaptable to a wide range of products.

Our solution was a package design system built around a background of stripes (white plus a single vivid color) to achieve high in-store visibility. On this background, we placed the Disney Aeon logo, the product name, flavor variety and a tasty-looking photograph resulting in a package immediately intelligible to both children and their parents.

The final touch was the addition of a Disney character in the bottom right of the package. We deliberately featured the characters at a very large size (sometimes bleeding them out of the edge of the package) to make them as eye-catching as possible.

When arranged on the store shelf, the packages present a multicolor symphony of vivid stripes and popular  characters, adding a powerful element of fun and energy to Aeon's own-brand line-up.
