GlaxoSmithKline is one of the world's leading healthcare companies with a strong tradition of research. In Japan, its Contac brand of cold and flu medicine enjoys widespread popularity.

Nytol is a sleep aid and another of GSK's global brands. It helps people who are suffering from sleeplessness or whose sleep is shallow and easily disturbed to get a good night's rest. Bravis was asked to come up with a package design and a brand manual with guidelines for handling the visual identity.

We opted for a design composed of both straight lines?to suggest the trustworthiness and peace of mind of a serious medical product?and gently curved lines to evoke the gentle working of the drug and the comfort of a good night's sleep. The undulating deep blue element suggestive of deep sleep is placed in the center, while the surrounding design of yellow sunbeams makes clear that after taking Nytol you wake up the next day refreshed and raring to go.

Supported by an aggressive advertising campaign on television, Nytol is now available in pharmacies all over Japan.
