Mitsukan is best known as a maker of vinegar, but it also produces a variety of ready-to-eat foods. 2002 was designated a year of friendship between Japan and South Korea, as well as being the year that they jointly hosted the football world cup. To commemorate this, Mitsukan launched a range of Korean dishes under the Genki Shokudo (Healthy Dining room) brand. The packaging concentrates on communicating how tasty the food is, while the red color refers to the hot and spicy nature of Korean cuisine.
