Gin no Sara, Gin no Spoon

Unicharm

Unicharm is primarily a specialist in non-woven fabrics and absorbent materials. The firm operates in five business segments: Baby and Child Care, Feminine Care, Health Care, Clean and Fresh, and, since 1986, Pet Care. Now home to 26 million dogs and cats, Japan is a country where pets easily outnumber human children. Gin no Sara ('Silver Plate') and Gin no Spoon ('Silver Spoon') are Unicharm's pet food brands for dogs and cats, respectively.

Bravis developed the packaging for three series: Gin no Sara Semi-moist, Gin no Sara With Delicious Chicken Breast, and Gin no Spoon Dry.

Although the names for both the dog and cat brands featured the same word Gin ('silver') to evoke the idea of gourmet pet food, the brand marks themselves were different. The first thing we therefore did was to redesign the two brand marks to achieve a consistent look and to boost brand synergy.

The brand mark uses a royal blue background to project the quality and authority of a category-leading brand, while the white lettering radiates optimism. We placed large photographs of dogs or cats above the brand mark to make sure consumers knew exactly which kind of pet the products were for and to add an irresistible note of warmth and cuteness to the package.
